Palaveram (now known as Pallavaram) 1869 - 1st class Apothecary Conjeveram Dispensary 1873 - Station Negapatam. 1878 - Ootacamund. 8.10.1878 - Civil Dispensary. Ranipett. 1888 - Senior Medical Subordinate South Station Hospital. Bangalore. 11.1.1890 - Senior Apothecary. Medical Officer. Chatrapur. 28.8.1890 - Hon. Lieutenant. 5.1.1892 - Hon. Captain. D.D. Bangalore District. 12.4.1893 - Deceased. Bangalore. [Source: Madras and Indian Army List - copy in papers of Leslie Chadwick] Jonathan Chadwick was living in Arcot when his son Cecil was born in 1861. There was an army garrison at Arcot so Jonathan was probably living there at the time. His occupation on Cecil's certificate of baptism was given as Assistant Apothecary. The British Library's India Office records note his occupation at death as "Sen Apothy, Madras SMD". SMD stands for Subordinate Medical Department. The burial record gives his occupation as 1st Grade Senior Apothecary. Burial record gives his age as 53 years 7 months 2 days. From this his date of birth can be precisely calculated.
